Palace Museum of Beijing Delegation Visits FORTH
On Monday 15th December 2025, we welcomed at FORTH a delegation from the Palace Museum in Beijing led by the Director of Conservation Standard Department of the Palace Museum, Mr Qu Liang. This visit aimed to discuss with FORTH colleagues the progress of the “China-Greece Joint Laboratory on Cultural Heritage Conservation Technology” and investigate further collaborations and common actions.

The Chinese delegation, also consisted of Ms Du Juan, Researcher at Ancient Architecture Department of the Palace Museum, and Mr Liu Hanwen, Researcher at Conservation Standard Department of the Palace Museum, participated to a dedicated colloquium organized at FORTH, which enabled prolific discussions and new common initiatives between the two Institutes of FORTH (IESL-FORTH and ICS-FORTH) and the Palace Museum.
The acting director of IESL-FORTH, Prof. Emmanuel Stratakis, welcomed the delegation and presented the activities of IESL-FORTH, emphasizing the Greek-Chinese collaboration.
Professor D. Anglos provided the delegation with a tour of the PhoHS laboratories at IESL-FORTH, where he discussed current research initiatives. Dr. P. Pouli shared insights into the past and future activities of the “China-Greece Joint Laboratory on Cultural Heritage Conservation Technology.” Additionally, Dr. A. Siatou, a Taihe Scholar at the Palace Museum, participated in the meeting and shared her experience from her internship at the museum.
During the visit, Prof. Y. Tzitzikas emphasized the activities of the Center for Cultural Informatics at the Institute of Computer Science at FORTH (ICS-FORTH). Ms. Ch. Bekiari, together with the CCI members Maria Theodoridou, D. Agelakis, L. Harami and A. Kritsotaki, presented the digital platforms developed by the CCI at ICS-FORTH, focusing on potential future collaborations between the two research teams. The attendees of the working meeting also had the opportunity to discuss issues related to the standardization of analytical and conservation procedures.
