A Tale of Two Museums – China-Greece Belt and Road Joint Laboratory on Cultural HeritageConservation Technology

🏛️✨ Following the 2019 visit of the Presidents of Greece and China to the Acropolis Museum, bilateral scientific collaboration in cultural heritage preservation has steadily expanded, evolving into a strong international partnership. 🇨🇳 🇬🇷

Within this framework, the China–Greece “𝐁𝐞𝐥𝐭 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐑𝐨𝐚𝐝” Joint Laboratory for Cultural Heritage Conservation Technologies was established, led by the Palace Museum on the Chinese side and by the Photonics for Heritage Science (PhoHS) group of the Institute of Electronic Structure and Laser at FORTH on the Greek side.

🔬🤝 The Joint Laboratory promotes cutting-edge conservation technologies and serves as a bridge connecting scientific expertise with cultural dialogue. Through this collaboration, the Chinese and Greek partners have strengthened mutual trust, delivered significant achievements, and cultivated a lasting relationship of friendship.

🔗 A Tale of Two Museums

Dr. Paraskevi Pouli, senior application scientist at the IESL and Greek head of the joint lab, mentions: “The joint lab is not only an interdisciplinary international collaboration platform, but also a bridge for the exchange and mutual learning among diverse civilizations”.
